Feelspiration™: Lip colours

For this Feelspiration™ I decided to do something a little different. I'm sure every woman has had a moment where you've pulled together a great outfit, complete with the perfect accessories but felt like something's missing..  This, my dearies, is where the power of lipstick comes in.  Before  I go on, big DISCLAIMER; I, in no way, shape or form, want to delve in the world of Pro MUAs and beauty bloggers - I'm far too impatient lol.  However, with the perks for working in health and beauty, I've had the chance to experiment with looks outside of clothing and I'm really liking what I'm discovering.

Now, I love the richness of my darker skin tone but my-oh-my it can be a bit of a challenge to find a variety of colours to build a healthy lip colour collection.  So, if like me, you've always been a bit scared to try something new, here are my favourite lip colours I've discovered over the last year which I feel can take your outfits to the next level.

1. Sephora Collection Rouge Cream lipstick in Crush

I may not know beauty technical terms but I do know fashion and this little number is what you would call your LBD.  I bought this on a whim whilst scouring Sephora in New York and I've not regretted it.  The colour is rich, the lipstick a great balance of matte and creamy, it's evocative from the first slick on the lip and it lasts for h-o-u-r-s.  One thing I love about this colour is, as a lady with full lips, it really pulls together a vampy LBD-centered look without feeling like you've been at the chocolate again!

N.B.  Sephora aren't in the UK (boo!) but Sleek True Colour in Cherry is a close match

 2. Sleek Lipstick True Colour in Mystic

For years I shied away from looking at pink lipsticks because, personally, I thought too many things can go wrong, mostly especially after seeing one too many 'exploded bubblegum to lips collisions 'examples'.  So major loveage to Sleek for developing a lip colour that makes the darker woman look bottlepop tasty without the sickly after-effects.  This is such a great colour when you're bright colour blocking - the most effective way I found is to treat the lipstick as one of the colours and stick to the rule of a maximum of three colours maximum.

3. Lush Cosmetics lipstick in Ambition

Hands up who knew Lush did lippies? No, me neither!  Luckily for me my BFF, who is a make up fanatic, bought this for me as a Christmas present and I have not looked back since. It has a super soft base, a blend of organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax and rose wax, which means you need next to no prep before you glide it on - perfect when you need to look flash then dash!  Now, be warned, the colour will take a few wears to get used to (it's not called Ambition for nothing!) but it's definitely worth the investment.

Let me know what your thoughts are if you buy it - would love to see how others make it work for them!
